Lisa Harstine

Hi!  I’m Lisa and I’m excited to be a part of the Reading Connections team!  I’ve been married to my husband, Joel, for almost 30 years and we have three adult children.  While I’m new to the Reading Connections program, I am not new to the field of education.  I graduated from Grace College with a degree in Elementary Education and have spent time working in local schools as a Title 1 Paraprofessional and ESL Teacher.  I also spent 5 years working in Children’s Ministries at Warsaw Community Church and am currently working as the Sponsorship Director for 2nd Mile Missions, a local non-profit organization that provides educational, nutritional, and spiritual support for children and families trapped in the cycle of systemic poverty in the Dominican Republic.  I developed a passion for working with children with reading struggles while helping my daughter navigate her school years with dyslexia that wasn’t diagnosed until she was a junior in high school.  I am grateful for the opportunity to come alongside parents to help their children grow, learn and gain confidence in their literacy skills.
