Frequently Asked Questions
How long are the appointments?
Your child’s first evaluation will be scheduled for one hour. You will be asked to arrive 15-20 minutes early to complete registration paperwork prior to the appointment. Treatment sessions are 45 minutes and typically 1x/week.
How long will my child need services?
The needs of each child are different. Some children will only need the therapies we provide for a short time, while others may benefit from ongoing care throughout their entire childhood. Your child’s pediatric therapist will be able to give you a better idea of the duration of treatment once they have evaluated your child and set up an individualized treatment plan.

What is the difference between the therapies my child receives at school versus what they would receive at Joe’s Kids?
The therapies received at Joe’s Kids follow a medical model of care. Therapists look at the whole child and develop goals and treatment activities needed for daily life in all settings, not just the educational setting. Treatment sessions are longer and individualized for each child. Your child is always seen one-on-one by a licensed therapist and never in a group setting at Joe’s Kids. School therapies may be necessary to ensure your child has the support they need at present to function in the classroom setting. Outpatient therapies are needed to ensure that your child develops all of the skills that they will need to live and function as independently as possible as adults. We work in partnership with local schools to ensure your child has everything they need.
